Fashion designing young entrepreneurs from Zomba , 22-year-old Qanary (Abdul Hafiz Mwaonjela) and 21-year-old Richbaby (Thokozani Katema) have captured audiences with their unique blend of painted labels and sewing modern outfits, redefining the fashion landscape.

Qanary Og and Rich Baby’s fashion designing journey began in 2023, after facing challenges in pursuing their education. Despite lacking formal training in fashion, they relied on self taught skills and creativity to develop their craft.

In an interview, Qanary Og shared the inspiring story of their journey, saying: “We started by observing and learning from others, we saw a design we liked, took it to a tailor, but weren’t satisfied with the result. So, we decided to take matters into our own hands and teach ourselves how to sew and paint .”

Through dedication and hard work, they developed a distinctive style that has garnered attention on social media platforms and other countries.

“Social media advertising has boosted our designs to international recognition, with exports to Zambia, Mozambique, and South Africa, and collaborations with Malawian artists on hits like ‘Halo’ by Black Nina, and ‘Tipopoke’ by King Coch.”

Richbaby, offered words of advise to others.
“Sometimes, young people of our age get caught up in drinking and smoking, thinking fashion is all about showing off.”

“In today’s world the talents is within us Genz , we have the opportunity to make money while we still young. let’s focus on developing our talents and making a positive impact,” Richbaby said.
